How Berlin label Get Physical used Wavo Native ads to go #1 on Beatport

Wavo is a digital marketing platform and agency that specifically caters to music & culture. Current clients include Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, SFX, Armada, Ultra and more. Wavo runs wavo.me/boost — the native advertising network for arts & culture.

Brief:

Get Physical is a Berlin based electronic music label that has been at the forefront of the house and techno scene since it was established in 2002. At the end of 2015 they asked rising star Emanuel Satie to rework Late Night Tuff Guy’s remix of ‘I Get Deep’ by DJ Le Roi Ft. Roland Clark from the label’s back catalog.

Get Physical GM, Roland Leesker, felt the track could be a genuine chart topper and Myradh from ATL Management got in touch with WAVO on the label’s behalf to help it reach it’s potential.

The track was already sitting at #23 on Beatport, the top digital download store for electronic music, but Roland’s goal was to get it to #1.

Results:

With the goal in mind, Wavo used our music specific advertising tools to help Get Physical reach the right audience — underground and electronic DJs who frequent Beatport. In less than 2 weeks we drove 2,075 DJs to the buy link helping the track shoot to the #1 spot!

Wavo helped amplify the remix through using WAVO Boost — a Native Advertising platform specifically built for music.

“Native Advertising is a form of promotion where the advertising matches the visual design of the experience it lives within, and looks and feels like natural content.”

For Wavo, this means promoting your music content — whether it’s iTunes, Soundcloud, Youtube, Spotify, HypeM, blog posts or in this case Beatport links — through our sponsored content widgets that are seamlessly integrated into the interface and experience of top music sites around the world.

In the case of Get Physical’s release, this meant targeting the DJs and tastemakers who search for new music across influential underground electronic publications like XLR8R, FACT Magazine, Deep House Amsterdam, Data Transmission, and more.

Not only was the song targeted to a very influential and relevant audience but it also benefits from the premium association of the world’s leading music publishers.

Market research shows that Native Advertising, where the content is seamlessly integrated into the experience, results in a 18% higher lift in purchase intent than traditional display advertising (Those banner ads you see across the web)*.

Thus, Wavo Boost was the perfect type of promotion to reach the right fans at the right time and help Get Physical reach their goal of going #1 on Beatport.
